"I grew up enjoying family. Especially time with my grandparents. They were oftentimes a place of refuge from the storms of life.

The Lord blessed me for 45 years with active grandparents. Grandmother passed away in 2003 after 96 years on earth.

My father died at 74 of Lou Gehrig’s Disease three months later. Then in January of 2005 our grandfather passed away at the ripe age of 104. He had maintained all his faculties to the end. Abuelo was sharp as a whip. He played golf until he was 91, drove until 102, and played his last game of poker two weeks before death. Julio Mendez was a amazing man."
